In comic books, a variant cover (sometimes variant edition) refers to an issue of a comic book printed with multiple covers, each with unique cover art. Some of these Variant covers are allocated based on the number of books ordered with regular covers. The allocated variants show how rare the variant is, such as 1 for every 10 regular issues or 1 for every 25 often shown like this 1:10 or 1:25. Some of the higher allocated variants are very limited and can become quite valuable since the supply is so low. These variants are 1:100 or 1:200 there has even been variants covers as limited as 1 per 500 or 1 per 1000 regular copies printed.
